Rules, Tips & FAQs

Rules:

All players must post at least once a week.  If you can't meet the posting requirement you'll need to be replaced.  If you need a temporary leave, speak to the Captain or First Officer.

Play closely to your bio.  The more set your char. is, the more real & believable it becomes.

The chain of command is
  your Dept. Head
  the XO
  the Captain
  Tau Sigma Fleet Command
Please follow this.  If you have a concern or questions we're all here to help.

Do not  kill  player character, including your own, unless you've consulted with the Captain first.

Make sure your post remain relevant to the current storyline.

Don't post more than brief responses for another player without asking first.

No God moding.  If you feel the story is too slow, or what-have-you, please don't take it upon yourself to blow a hole in the ship, for example, to spice things up.

Feel free to make friends and relationships among your fellow crewmembers, but remember, on duty to respect position & rank.

Tips:

Have fun, be creative & learn new things.

JPing, or joint posting is where two or more players create a post together.  It's a great way to meet some of your shipmates & learn the ship & crew, while adding interest to the story.

Please, for the love of everyone's sanity, if you have the chance run your posts through spell check before you send them out.

If you have questions, ask.  You COs  are there to help.

Suggestions are always welcome.

Try to learn all you can.  Creative license is great, but knowing the difference between a phase compensator & a self-sealing stem bolt;) can add realism to your posts.

This site offers a great many resources, use them.

F.A.Q.s:

What is a PBeM game?
A PBeM is a game played by email.  Players contribute posts to create a story.   Posts can also be made sometimes via IM or chats.

How do I get promoted?
The best way to work you way up is to meet or exceed the posting requirement, contribute to the story without going too far outside the current plotlines & write well.  Well thought out post, knowledgeable & creative writing  & an intruiging, believable character go a long way.  Please remember, NCOs & junior officers make up the bulk of a crew & there's only so much 'brass' to go around:).  A junior officer post gives you the opportunity to learn & grow as a character in ways a senior officer may not get.  Besides, there's much less paperwork;)

What is a JP?
A JP or joint post is when two or more characters come up with a post together.  This can be done through email, but it takes a while.  My suggestions is, if possible, use an IM.  JPs can be anything from a casual conversation to an away team.  They're a fun way to learn more about your ship & the people you're "working" with.
